Abstract: 

Managing scientific research information to promote ecological research and facilitatewidespread availability to the broader scientific community can be an overwhelming task. TheQuantitative Sciences Group in the Department of Forest Science at Oregon State Universityhelps address this need within a context of integrating research information management into theresearch planning process. The history of the Forest Science Data Bank is described. Lessonslearned and strategies for successful long-term ecological information management are shared.
