Abstract:
On 40 strearnside buffer strips in the Cas-cade Mountains of western Oregon, stability WIN a fir (lionof one vegetation and six topographic variables, and shad-ing was related to three cluiracteristics of butter strips andone of adjacent cleareuts. Prediction equations were devel-oped from these relationships to aid assessment of streamprotection in proposed harvest designs and to aid rapidevaluation of design modifications. Options can he quanti-fied so that the most suitable design may be chosen.
