A system has been developed for the efficient collection, keypunching, verification and analysis of vegetation plot data. It includes fieldforms on write-in-the-rain paper which are designed to be easilykeypunched. A program has been written to facilitate cleaning thekeypunched data. Other routines enable: 1) conversion of the data intopositional format for entry into most classification and ordinationroutines, 2) construction of species cover and stand tables, 3)estimation of tree height and age (when necessary on large diametertrees), and 4) estimation of soil water-holding capacity.
