Modeling the effects of land use on carbon storage in forests of the Pacific Northwest: a test of methods. In: Proceedings, 25th International Symposium on Remote Sensing and Global Environmental Change; Graz, Austria. I: 533-539.
We are conducting a study to determine the flux of carbon (C) from forestland due to logging over the past twenty years in the Pacific Northwest,USA. Within the context of that study we are testing our methods over a1.2 Mha area in the central Oregon Cascade Range. The methods includeremote sensing of forest age, detection of changes in forest age, simulationof mean monthly temperature and precipitation, simulation of carbonstorage in forest stands, and spatial extrapolation to create C storage maps. This paper describes our experiences to date..
