Abstract:

Infiltration capacities were 50 percent greater during fallthan during summer for forest soils of western Oregon. Theseresults contrast with those measured in other studies. Inforested areas, investigators should be aware of potentiallylarge seasonal changes in infiltration capacities. Suchseasonal changes may exceed effects due to applied treatments(logging, slash disposal, burning, etc.) and can confound studyresults.
