General Stand Description:
This subalpine forest stand is principally made up of a
mixture of Pacific silver fir (Abies amabilis), noble fir
(Abies procera), and mountain hemlock (Tsuga mertensiana).
There are a few stems of Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
and western hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla), but they are very
scattered. The stand is classified as mature, with the
average maximum tree age of approximately 160 years.
The understory is completely dominated by abundant
Xeropyllum tenax and scattered Vacciunium membranaceum. A
limited number of other species occur, but are not common.
