O1  4 - 3 in.        Twigs, needles, etc. (L and F layers); 
                    abrupt and smooth boundary.

O2  3 - 0 in.       Very dark brown (10YR2/2) when moist humus 
                    layer; abundant fine, common medium and 
                    coarse roots; clear and smooth boundary.

A  0 - 4 in.        Matrix of dark  brown (10YR3/3)  and mottles 
                    of dark grayish brown (10YR4/2) when moist 
                    clay loam; massive structure; friable when 
                    moist, nonsticky and slightly plastic when 
                    wet; high in organic matter, common faint 
                    fine mottles; common fine medium coarse 
                    roots; clear and smooth boundary.
