A1  0 - 9 in.       Dark  yellowish brown (10YR3/4) when moist 
                    shotty loam; moderate, medium granular 
                    structure; slightly hard when dry, friable 
                    when moist, nonsticky and slightly plastic 
                    when wet; 20% shot, 1/8 in. ash; abundant 
                    fine and medium, few coarse roots; gradual 
                    and wavy boundary.

B1  9 - 19 in.      Dark yellowish brown (10YR4/4) when moist 
                    shotty heavy loam; weak, medium granular 
                    structure; slightly hard when dry, friable
