A1  0 - 1.5 in.     Very dark brown (10YR2/2) when moist silt 
                    loam; moderate, fine granular structure; very 
                    friable when moist, nonsticky and slightly 
                    plastic when wet; very high organic matter 
                    content; abundant fine, common medium roots; 
                    clear and wavy boundary.

A3  1.5 - 9 in.     Very dark grayish brown (10YR3/2) when moist 
                    silty clay loam; weak, fine subangular blocky 
                    breaking to moderate, medium granular
