PRECIPITATION (UPLMET)

Measurement period:: 19941001 - Present

Comments:

Daily Variables:
01 Oct 1994 to Present : Daily precipitation

Fine Resolution:
01 Oct 1994 to Present: 5 minute precipitation

Status: Two gages have been installed: a stand-alone gage with a
Valdais shield and a shelter gage. The orifice of the stand alone
gage is heated by a thermistatically controlled propane heater.
This heated gage with the very significant Valdais shielding fence
has dramatically improved our snow catch and prevented snow
bridging over the gage. The shelter gage is located on top of our
station shelter and heated through ducts from the shelter's propane
heating system. This gage has also improved catch over the more
traditionally heated raingages. However, it is protected only with an
alter wind shield and catches less than the stand-alone. A standard
raingage was operational from 18 Sep 1995 to 21 Sep 2000.

SNOW LYSIMETER (UPLMET)

Measurement period:: 19941026 - Present

Comments:

Daily Variables:
26 Oct 1994 to Present :
Daily snow lysimeter runoff

Fine Resolution Variables:
26 Oct 1994 to Present :

Notes: Tipping bucket tips are summarized by 5 minute intervals
on a CR10 recorder. An event counter totals the number of tips
over the collection period as a check.

SNOW MOISTURE AND DEPTH (UPLMET)

Measurement period:: 19941010 - Present

Comments:

Fine Resolution Variables:
10 Oct 1994 to Present:

Periodic measurement variables:
26 Oct 1994 to Present:
Periodic measurement of depth and calculated snow water (probe 02)
Periodic measurement of snow moisture and depth (probe 03)

SOLAR RADIATION (UPLMET)

Measurement period:: 19941010 - Present

Comments:

Daily Variables:
10 Oct 1994 to Present:
Total and max daily incoming solar radiation
Time of max

High Resolution Variables:
10 Oct 1994 to Present:
Total incoming solar radiation in megaJoules per meter squared per 15 minutes

Sensor height: 617 cm

Notes: Max solar radiation is maximum rate of incoming solar radiation as
watts per meter squared. All MAXSOLAR values were originally collected as
Langleys per minute from 10 Oct 1994 to 25 July 2007 were converted to
watts per meter squared. The time of max is accurate to the minute.

TOTSOLAR values are megaJoules per meter squared over the given time interval.
Values were originally collected as total Langleys over the given time interval from
10 Oct 1994 to 25 July 2007 but were converted to megaJoules per meter squared.
Conversions occurred in Nov 2009.
