The Andrews Forest Fund - Make a Gift
"To peer much further down the line requires not only empathy for those who follow, but also faith in the future-even if you won't be there to see it for yourself Maybe looking to the future is a way of hoping there will still be something to see when we get there. Maybe it's the only way to make sure of it."Robert Michael Pyle from "The Long Haul," Orion magazine, Sept/Oct 2004Andrews Forest Writer in ResidenceTo make a gift online, visit the

The Andrews Forest Mission: Bridging Research, Land Management, and Education
The mission of the Andrews Forest program is to support basic and applied ecological research, especially long-term studies concerning forests, streams, and watersheds; create and maintain strong linkages among research, education, and forest management; and provide education and public outreach in ecosystem science and natural resource management.
Research: The Andrews Forest is currently home to more than 100 interdisciplinary studies including: Long-term ecological research - studying natural and managed ecosystems, as part of the 26-site National Science Foundation network Watershed, stream, and riparian studies-studying water quality and quantity, biodiversity, and structure of mountain streams. These studies have led to riparian management guidelines used in the U.S. Pacific Northwest and beyond. Forest carbon dynamics-examining how carbon moves through the forest system within the Andrews Forest, the region, and beyond. These investigations have implications for managing greenhouse gases. Forest management studies - conducting experiments on forest landscape management and young plantation forest management. Education: the collaborative research environment at the Andrews Forest provides compelling learning experiences for teachers and students at all levels-from K-12 through undergraduate and graduate school.
If you are concerned about the future of the magnificent forests and streams of the Pacific Northwest and wish to leave a personal legacy to their wellbeing, we hope you will consider making a gift to support this critical long-term research and education.
Thank you!
